My RLV's are filmed with a camera mounted on a car or a bicycle. During the shooting from the car, I have tried to keep the same speed as you would normally do on the bike. Recordings with a camera mounted on the bike naturally provide the best "real" experience. This makes my RLV's very suitable for use with the freeware Tacx Video Player.
The Tacx Video Player makes RL videos accessible to use for riders who have an ergotrainer, cycletrainer or fitness bike from Tacx or another brand.
You only need a PC for this purpose.
How to use my RLV’s with the Tacx Video Player
First you need to locate, download and install the freeware Tacx Video Player - use Google to look for the download
Run the program to see if it works.
Close the VideoPlayer again.
The trick is now to get the player to "play non Tacx" videos:
My RLV usually consists of 4 files, 2 of which will be used for the player:
A video file such as RLVname.avi
A file that contains information about the route profile and speed as the video plays with RLVname.tts and 2 files used for a different program (RLVname.rlv and RLVname.pgmf)
The video file RLVname.avi can be placed anywhere on your harddisk/network/NAS, but the RLVname.tts has to be placed in a special (hidden) folder on your harddrive.
Show hidden files
Follow these steps to display hidden files and folders.
- Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.
- Click the View tab.
- Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
Now the hidden folders and files are visible in your file browser.
Open your file browser and you should now be able to see the “ProgramData” folder on your harddrive(C:)
Open the ProgramData folder and locate the “RLV” folder as shown below: This is where you have to place all the RLVname.tts files
Close your file browser again and start the Video Player.
Use the browse button and locate the RLVname.avi
You are now ready to ride J
